A LETTER TO YOU

Dear Yoga lovers,

How grateful I am to share my creation “Chakras by didi” with you. My simple mission is to educate and spread my love of yoga through fashion with women around the world. Ever since I started practicing in 2001, I have often asked myself why yoga makes me feel so good. The initial answer was because it improved my appearance physically (just a formal way of saying I lost weight!) therefore, I gained more self confidence. More self confidence means a happier life. A happier life means more memorable and joyful moments with myself, my family and my friends.

Apart from the scientific explanation that exercise releases endorphins which helps to regulate a person’s mood, I was still mystified by my general increased patience and positivity towards people and daily occurrences. My inner pace began to slow down as I often lived my life without taking a deep breath or halting to take in a moment (I was also living in NYC!) I noticed that I was becoming more tolerant and less short tempered! I took more time to appreciate life. Not only did it improve my physical health but my emotional health too.

So I asked myself how does yoga work? I began exploring the asanas in classes by absorbing my teachers’ words as well as doing extended research. I discovered that for example, inversions are very helpful for constipation. Trikonasana and Parvritta Trikonasana (Triangle and Revolve Triangle) are good for your digestive health and Paschimottanasana (Seated Forward Bend Pose) stimulates your reproductive system. How cool is that? The effects hit me even more when I took Sean Corne’s “Detox” class in Hong Kong and she led us through poses (a lot of twists) that specifically helped us in “flushing” out our bodies. And boy, did it work!

As a result of my on-going mini metamorphoses, I wanted to do something significant that would inspire more people to step into a yoga class or self-practice at home and begin to experience it for themselves. I want to educate and inspire through fashion, my other passion. You will find in my first “Asana Collection”, the name of each pose in English and Sanskrit. I often express confusion on my face if my teacher doesn’t say the pose in English as so often we are not taught the names in Sanskrit. One of my goals is to help you learn them by wearing them on your body! In addition, you will find the benefits of each pose listed on the tag that is attached.

Most women that I know love to wear something that makes them feel good, in and out of class. Chakras by didi is made with organic materials. The cuts are carefully designed to suit many body types. You will feel stylish, comfortable and uplifted.

By having more and more yoginis wear my garments, I hope to open numerous conversations about yoga in order for you to inspire a new friend to practice.

I thank you sincerely.

Namaste,

didi
